UK broadcaster Channel 4 has commissioned a trio of documentary films exploring the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas-controlled Gaza.

One Day In October (working title) from Dan Reed’s Amos Pictures is a 1 x 90-minute film that unpacks the events of 7 October 2023 through the eyes of the survivors and drawing on a trove of recordings from kibbutz CCTV to Hamas perpetrators’ GoPro.

Collateral (working title) from Basement Films is a Dispatches special that focuses on the lives of Gazan children, journalists & medical workers as they try to survive Israel’s military onslaught of the besieged strip.

Meanwhile, Our Land (working title), from director Marcel Mettelsiefen, explores how the violence of war has spilled out across Israel and the Occupied Territories.

Channel 4’s chief content officer, Ian Katz, said “The horrific Hamas attacks of October 7 and subsequent Israeli onslaught on Gaza have appalled and often divided people across the world. But the inability of international journalists and filmmakers to operate in Gaza means we have not yet had the chance to see the conflict from all perspectives.

“This slate of major films, from some of the finest documentary makers in the world, will for the first time offer a 360-degree view of the tragedy, from the desperate reality of life for ordinary Palestinians in shattered Gaza to the terrifying day of carnage in October that triggered the latest chapter of the conflict”
