Netflix has partnered with Law & Order franchise creator Dick Wolf on a pair of true crime docuseries beginning with Homicide: New York, which will debut later this month.

Produced by Wolf Entertainment and Alfred Street Industries, the five-part series will shed light on five of New York’s most notorious murder cases by following the detectives and prosecutors that cracked them. Dick Wolf, Tom Thayer, Jane Lipsitz, Dan Cutforth, Nan Strait, Dan Volpe and Adam Kassen are executive producing.

Homicide: Los Angeles will follow later this year from the same team and will also be a five-part docuseries.

Wolf is best known as the creator of the scripted franchise Law & Order, with its various shows following the work of both the police and legal system as crimes are investigated and then prosecuted.

In related news, Netflix is to launch seasons four and five of Pørni, the Norwegian comedy drama that was originally on embattled Nordic streamer Viaplay.

The six-part fourth series sees Pørni in a new relationship and enjoying a somewhat stable life. However, when Bjørnar moves back to Oslo and takes over Yngvar’s old chief position, life takes an unexpected turn. Can they go back to being friends and colleagues with the history they share?

Produced by Monster, alongside Viaplay, the series is created by and stars comedian Henriette Steenstrup, who commented: “The initial reception to the first three seasons of Pørni has been remarkably positive and I am thrilled that the upcoming seasons will debut on Netflix – I hope that fans of Pørni will continue to tune in, and perhaps the series will even attract a new fresh audience, who will be intrigued by Pørni’s relatable, but occasionally chaotic, and sometimes cringe-worthy, life”
