Asylum Entertainment Group expands into Canada under Texas Crew’s Brad Bernstein
Endeavor-owned Asylum Entertainment Group is expanding into Canada, with the opening of a new Vancouver office to be headed up by Texas Crew Productions’ CCO Brad Bernstein.
The production group said that the move would allow it to “take advantage of Canada’s production friendly environment.”
Bernstein currently oversees more than 50 hours of factual programming, with Texas Crew, which Asylum acquired in 2022, behind titles including Myth Of The Zodiac Killer for Peacock and How I Caught My Killer for Hulu.
Longtime Asylum exec James Macnab has also been promoted to EVP and will report into Bernstein. He previously served as SVP of content, overseeing current programming including Shaq Life for TNT, Eli Roth’s History Of Horror for AMC, In Ice Cold Blood for Oxygen, and Sins Of The Amish and Menendez + Menudo: Boys Betrayed for Peacock. Macnab began his career as a producer on broadcast shows like Hell’s Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares and Big Brother.
“Our new Canadian office will provide exciting opportunities for our domestic partners and introduce the Canadian broadcast market to Asylum’s extensive portfolio of brands,” said Asylum CEO Steve Michaels.
The expansion into Canada comes during a time of growth for Asylum, with the company having bought into Ian Lamarra’s Soho Studios Entertainment earlier this month and made a minority investment in Moon & Back Entertainment in September.
Asylum also forged recent first-look deals with Scott Weintrob’s Large Eyes Entertainment and Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello and his Comandante Productions.
