A+E Networks EMEA, Quintus & Spirit Studios link for true crime series ‘Missing, Presumed Dead’
A+E Networks EMEA and Germany’s Quintus Studios have partnered with UK indie Spirit Studios to co-produce true crime series Missing, Presumed Dead.
The 10 x 60-minute series documents the stories of real people’s disappearances – and how they were found – from their own points of view. Recounted through interviews with the missing person, their family and friends, experts in abduction, identity fraud and survival techniques, the series examines their experiences and how and why they returned to their families.
A+E Networks EMEA will broadcast the series on Crime+Investigation in the UK, Benelux, CEE, Greece and Middle East & Sky Crime in Italy, while Quintus Studios will distribute the series and stream it on AVOD service FD Crime outside the UK.
Producer Spirit Studios is behind titles including The Stand Up Sketch Show for ITV2 and ITVX and podcasts such as Private Parts and In Sickness And In Health. It also owns and operates The Lion Whisperer which has over 2.5 million subscribers on YouTube.
Dan Korn and Di Carter will exec produce for A&E EMEA, Adam Jacobs for Quintus Studios, and Matt Campion and Martin Sadowski for Spirit Studios.
‘’We have all heard of the infamous cases of child abduction, such as Elizabeth Smart and Natasha Kampusch, in which the victims were forced to endure a living hell for years before being reunited with their families. Missing, Presumed Dead focuses on those cases which might not be so well known but which are every bit as harrowing and does so from the unique perspective of the abductee, their agonised families and the investigators,” said Korn, VP of Programming at A+E Networks EMEA.
