NBC has made a pilot order for Suits: LA, the spin-off from the resurgent legal drama that debuted on USA Network a decade ago before more recently finding a new audience on Netflix.

The show will be produced in Vancouver from March and follows an ex-federal prosecutor named Ted who is forced to rebrand himself in LA to represent a host of powerful clients as he seeks to save his company.

“His firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career,” NBC said.

“Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives. All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel that led Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved.”

Suits creator Aaron Korsh is writing the new show, which is being produced by NBC sibling, UCP. None of the original show’s cast have yet been named to appear in the spin-off.
