ITV Studios hires Mediaset España format chief to lead Iberian’s unscripted push

ITV Studios (ITVS) has hired the formats boss of Mediaset España to lead unscripted creative at its nascent Spanish and Portuguese division.

Miguel Vila becomes creative director for non-scripted at ITVS Iberia, which was launched last year and is the exclusive home of ITVS’s formats in Spain. The division is led by Fremantle Spain’s former CEO, Nathalie Garcia.

Vila will oversee the production of shows including The Voice (La Voz), The Voice Kids (La Voz Kids) and The Chase (El Cazador), the 14th season of which for TVE is currently in production.

He reports into Garcia and will also lead development, with a remit to work with the label’s yet-to-be-appointed content director and their team, as well as the production director.

Vila will also seek out new opportunities from around the world, working closely with ITVS’s Creative Network, led by MD Mike Beale.

The exec joins following more than a decade at Mediaset España, where he was deputy of format development until 2015 when he became head of formats & new developments. Prior to that, he held roles at Cuatro and Canal+.
