News round-up: ‘Fallen’ heads to US, France; SVT adapts ‘Scarab Flies’; Globo buys ‘Spinners’

Polar+, MHZ Choice buy ‘Fallen’

Polar+ in France and MHZ Choice are among buyers of Fallen, Filmlance’s Sofia Helin and Camilla Ahlgren-led crime drama.

The deals, struck by Banijay Rights ahead of this week’s Göteborg Film Festival, will also see NPO in the Netherlands, SBS in Australia, ERT in Greece and Syn hf in Iceland taking the drama.

The six-parter was created and written by Ahlgren along with Martin Asphaug and Alex Haridi, with Helin starring. It is a co-production between, TV4, Film i Skåne and Filmlance, in collaboration with ZDF.

SVT adapts Scarab Flies

SVT and SVT Play in Sweden have ordered an adaptation of Maria Gripe’s novel The Scarab Flies At Dusk, with filming starting in May.

The show will be produced by Fifth Season-backed Nordic Drama Queens and is set to be broadcast in 2025.

The family adventure series cast includes Tomas von Brömssen,Pernilla August and Dag Malmberg, with Fifth Season handling global sales.

Globo buys Spinners

Globo in Braizl has picked up Canal+ drama Spinners.

The show, a co-production between African streaming service Showmax and Canal+, revolves around the popular and dangerous South African motor sport of spinning, which sees cars driven at high speed with drivers performing stunts in and out of the vehicle.

The eight-parter premiered across Sub-Saharan Africa on Showmax and on Canal+ in Africa in November. An air date on Canal+ in France has not been revealed. Studiocanal is handling sales.

The drama is produced by Joachim Landau and Raphaël Rocher for Empreinte Digitale and co-produced by Ramadan Suleman.
