‘Doctor Foster’ gets Slovakian remake

Slovakian broadcaster TV Markíza has acquired the rights to adapt BBC Studios scripted format Doctor Foster.

The 10-part Slovak adaptation, Zrada (Betrayal), will launch on 5 February and will be produced in cooperation with the production company Film Kolektiv, with Klára Issová and Milan Ondrík taking the lead roles.

Originally written and created by Mike Bartlett and produced by Drama Republic, the series centres around a trusted doctor whose life implodes when she suspects her husband of having an affair. The format has already been adapted in markets such as Japan, South Korea, France, Turkey, the Philippines and Indonesia.

Netflix & RTVE take Limonero titles

Netflix and RTVE are among broadcaster and platforms to have struck deals with UK distributor Limonero Films for a string of factual titles.

Food and travel series The Wandering Chef has been picked up by RTVE, SBS Food and the Asian Food Network, with RTVE also taking Cyberwar.

SBS Food has meanwhile also acquired Hidden Flavours Of India: Northeast, while 13 Days has been sold to Yes Docu, Canal Sur and Netflix Spain.

DMC in Egypt acquired a package consisting of the titles Ahead Of Their Time, Thirties In Colour: Countdown To War, Sight: The Story Of Vision and The Divide.

ZDFS & Go Button travel ‘Into The Universe’

German producer-distributor ZDF Studios has commissioned its first major factual series from the Canadian indie Go Button Media.

Into the Universe: The Secrets Of The Cosmos Uncovered (8 x 52-minutes) shines a light on some of the universe’s most intriguing and baffling questions. It will examine the why of the universe’s unknowns and seek to crack the code to find answers to these cosmic conundrums, many of which have baffled the brightest minds for decades and even centuries.

ZDF Studios will be responsible for its global distribution (excluding Canada), while Go Button will partner with Canadian broadcaster Super Channel on the series.
