Peacock sets remake of Australian comedy ‘Laid’
US streamer Peacock has ordered comedy series Laid, a remake of the Australian show of the same name.
The series stars and is executive produced by Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once) and is written and exec produced by Nahnatchka Khan (Totally Killer) and Sally Bradford McKenna (Son Of Zorn).
The Australian series that it is based on was created by Marieke Hardy and Kirsty Fisher, and produced by Liz Watts, running for two seasons on ABC1 from 2011-2012. Laid tells the story of a woman who finds out her former lovers are dying in unusual ways and must go back through her sex timeline to confront her past in order to move forward.
The show hails from Universal Television, with John Davis and John Fox also exec producing for Davis Entertainment; Jennifer Carreras for Fierce Baby; Hardy, Fisher, and Watts for Porchlight Films; and All3Media International.
The commission comes in the same week that NBCUniversal-owned Peacock ordered polyamorous dating show, Couple To Throuple from Fremantle’s Naked.
