Cyber Group Studios’ US boss Karen K Miller has been appointed as CEO of Hidden Pigeon Company, the children’s entertainment outfit launched by Stampede Ventures, RedBird Capital Partners and American author Mo Willems, last year.

Miller arrives at the firm from her role as president and CEO of the US arm of French Cyber Group Studios, which she joined in January 2021. Prior to that, she served as SVP of content for Universal Kids and previously held positions at Disney and Warner Bros.

Starting in her new role this week, Miller succeeds Kathy Franklin, the former president of franchise development at Lightstorm Entertainment, who was named as CEO at launch last year and will now transition into an advisory position.

The company was founded to adapt Willems’ catalogue of children’s books and intellectual property across TV, film, digital, gaming, live events, location-based experiences, publishing and consumer products.

The creation of Hidden Pigeon Company followed Stampede Ventures and Mo Willems’ existing producing partnership, which led to the creation of HBO Max titles Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed: The Underground Rock Experience and Storytime All Stars Presents: Don’t Let the Pigeon Do Storytime.

“There is enormous potential to grow the impact of Mo Willems’ beloved characters and properties around the globe and introduce them to families everywhere,” said Miller. “I have long been a fan of Mo’s books and productions, and it is a privilege for me to step in at this time and build on HPC’s existing foundation as we help to scale this business to the next level.”
