Legendary hires ex-TNT/TBS exec Michael Bloom to lead unscripted push
Legendary Entertainment, the US firm behind shows such as Carnival Row for Prime Video and Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters for Apple TV+, has hired WarnerMedia alum Michael Bloom to lead its push into unscripted production.
Bloom, who will report to Legendary CEO Joshua Grode, will take the lead on developing and producing documentaries and docuseries at the Burbank-based company.
The exec joins Legendary following a year at Religion Of Sports, the firm founded by US football stars Tom Brady and Michael Strahan and sports documentarian Gotham Chopra.
Bloom is the former head of unscripted at WarnerMedia-owned US cablers TNT and TBS, where he oversaw shows including Drop The Mic and Snoop Dogg Presents The Joker’s Wild.
He stepped down from the role in 2019 after signing a production deal with WarnerMedia, via his production company Bongo Pictures, where he produced shows including Stylish With Jenna Lyons. Prior to that he was SVP of original content at IMG and has also served stints with AMC and Fox Sports.
“Michael brings unique expertise and an unparalleled track record that makes him a fantastic addition to Legendary’s best-in-class management team, and there is no one better suited to grow our new documentary and documentary series division,” said Grode, according to Deadline, which first reported Bloom’s appointment.
“We look forward to empowering Michael with Legendary’s top-tier resources, creative partnerships, and properties as we diversify our global portfolio with premium unscripted content.”
