BBC Studios Showcase moves to new London venue for 2024 edition
BBC Studios is moving its annual Showcase to a new Central London location for 2024.
The invite-only content and customer event will now take place from 26-27 February at 180 Studios, The Strand, during the week of London TV Screenings, which recently unveiled its schedule.
The company’s flagship content market, which attracts around 700 buyers annually, had been held in the UK city of Liverpool for nine years, until it relocated to London’s Leicester Square for this year’s edition. Its 2021 and 2022 iterations were held online during the pandemic.
Now in its 48th year, BBC Studios Showcase 2024 will provide match-making opportunities with the creative teams behind BBC Studios’ labels, production units and indie partners, as well as forums and screenings of titles coming to the international market.
Rebecca Glashow, CEO of global distribution, BBC Studios, said: “BBC Studios Showcase continues to be one of the most important moments in the content marketplace. We are excited to welcome our partners to discuss new ideas in development and present our upcoming slate filled with world-class on and off-screen talent. Having a multi-purpose space at 180 Studios provides us with the perfect setting for this year’s edition.”
BBC Showcase began its life in the Old Ship in Brighton in 1976 when 25 European buyers convened on a seafront hotel to watch shows such as Fawlty Towers, The Good Life and Doctor Who. It then moved across venues during the 1980s before landing in Liverpool in 2012.
