FilmRise to sell shows from Theorist Inc’s YouTube channels incl Game Theory & Style Theory

US-based FilmRise has snagged rights to the Theorist Inc.’s video libraries, which include content from YouTube channels Game Theory, Film Theory, Food Theory and Style Theory.

The deal was struck via FilmRise’s Creator Partner Program (CPP) and sees it taking rights to repackage and distribute the libraries, which claim to carry a combined YouTube subscriber base of over 40 million.

Free-to-air and pay-TV sales rights have been secured, alongside ad-supported streaming, AVOD and SVOD platforms in all English-speaking territories including the US, the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.

The shows, owned by Theorist Inc parent Lunar X, are comprised of “entertaining, engaging and accessible scientific analyses” of the various topics.

Max Einhorn, SVP of acquisitions & co-productions, said the deal marked “a significant milestone in our journey towards becoming the premier distributor in the digital creator universe”.

He added: “By embracing their exceptional creativity and captivating content we are also strengthening our reputation as the go-to destination for distributing groundbreaking and cutting-edge digital entertainment to streaming platforms worldwide.”

The Game Theory library delves into the lore of popular video game franchises; Film Theory unearths secrets of movies and TV shows that define pop culture; The Food Theory content explores culinary issues; and Style Theory covers fashion.

FilmRise began partnering with creators in 2021, striking deals for content from creators such as Unspeakable and Scuba Jake.
