Lionsgate has promoted Kate Nexon to president of domestic TV and digital distribution.

In her new role, Nexon will oversee North American sales, strategy and planning for the company’s first-run film and TV pipelines and library, including domestic licensing, revenue share and FAST channels.

Nexon previously served as EVP of domestic TV and digital distribution and has been with the company for 14 years, beginning in the home entertainment division.

Since 2020, she has overseen domestic sales for the studio’s content pipelines and library across AVOD, SVOD and linear platforms, leading a team that Lionsgate said has generated nearly $2bn in revenue over the past three fiscal years.

Nexon negotiated the sale of global hit Schitt’s Creek to Hulu and played a major role in the sale of John Wick spin-off series The Continental to Peacock. She also secured licensing deals for The Chosen with Peacock, The CW and Amazon.

Her promotion comes amid big changes at Lionsgate, which this year struck a $500m deal to acquire Yellowjackets firm Entertainment One from Hasbro, which has delayed its plans to split off US streamer and cablenet Starz from its film and TV studio.

“Kate has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and made important contributions to the continued growth of our global distribution business,” said Lionsgate President of Worldwide Television Distribution Jim Packer.

“She is a true Lionsgate success story, and her deep industry expertise, collaborative approach and strong client relations will be invaluable assets as we continue to position the studio for future growth.”
