TelevisaUnivision & SBT in Brazil extend telenovela rights & distribution pact

TelevisaUnivision has extended its programming pact with SBT, handing the Brazilian broadcaster rights to a raft of scripted product from the Spanish-language giant.

The deal provies SBT with exclusive broadcast rights to Televisa’s telenovelas on free-to-air television in Brazil.

Televisa will also sell SBT telenovelas based on the Spanish-language firm’s formats around the world.

Guillermo Borensztein, TelevisaUnivision’s SVP of international content licensing and co-production, said the new five-year deal would “take the relationship with SBT to the next level.”
