Quicksand producer FLX has promoted Joshua Mehr to become CEO, replacing Pontus Edgren.

Mehr will take up the role from 8 January and is being upped from his current role as head of business affairs, which he has held for nine years.

He has overseen shows such as Sunny Side and The Bonus Family at the prodco, which is owned by founder and creative director Felix Herngren and current CEO Pontus Edgren, together with majority owner SF Studios.

Edgren is stepping dowen having “been in dialogue with FLX’s owners for some time to ensure a smooth succession,” the Nordic prodco said. His next move is not yet known.

“I am very happy that Joshua Mehr, who has an extremely good understanding of the industry and FLX in particular, has agreed to take on the role as CEO of FLX. I also want to take the opportunity to thank Pontus Edgren for his fantastic work in building FLX to become one of Scandinavia’s most successful production companies,” said Iréne Lindblad, CEO of SF Studios and chairman of the board of FLX.

Mehr joined the company in 2015 having been head of business affairs at Another Park Film.
