Netflix has confirmed it has picked up Dead Boy Detectives, the former HBO Max show based on Neil Gaiman’s characters.

The eight-part drama is based on the DC Comics story and has been produced by Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television.

It follows a group of friends who are living in the afterlife and solve mystifying paranormal cases. Steve Yockey, who developed the show, is showrunner with Beth Schwartz.

The series had been set to become available on HBO Max as part of its DC Universe programming strategy, which has since been curtailed. It will now sit alongside Netflix’s Sandman.
