US-Canadian LGBTQ+ streamer OUTtv has commissioned three new documentaries as part of its OUTspoken strand.

Produced by Firestarter Productions, the 1 x 90-minute Our Gay Family explores a family with three generations of women living a gay life from their early twenties to mid-fifties.

The Last American Gay Bar, produced by Kristian Day Media and Daylite Pictures, is a 3 x 40-minute series telling the story of the rise and fall of gay bars in America through the eyes of three red state institutions.

Meanwhile, Escape To Paradise is a one-off 45-minute documentary, looking into the life of Filipino-American drag queen and reality television personality Manila Luzon on a summer day in Fire Island produced by Producer Entertainment Group.

Philip Webb, COO of OUTtv, said: “Documentaries are a hugely important part of our programming slate as they support our core values of telling the true stories of the LGBTQ+ community, and continue to be popular with our audiences all over the world.

“These projects spotlight a multiplicity of queer experiences – from the importance of vibrant night life and spaces to host it, to an intimate portrait of a family across generations.”
