Sky Witness & streamer Now enter ‘Fire Country’ following Paramount deal

Comcast-owned Sky Witness and sibling streamer Now in the UK have picked up rights to CBS drama Fire Country.

The show, which debuted on CBS last year, will launch early 2024 on Sky and tells the story of a young convict who seeks redemption and a shortened prison sentence by joining a prison-release firefighting programme.

The 22 x 60-minute drama is produced by CBS Studios and distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

Zai Bennett, MD of content at Sky UK and Ireland, described the show as being “ablaze with action, drama and stunning visual effects.”

CBS chief George Cheeks said earlier this year that his network was exploring a raft of spin-offs for Fire Country, as part of its strategy to expand franchises.
