Warner Bros. Discovery has struck a pact to create and distribute Taiwanese original content locally and across international markets.

The multi-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been agreed with Taiwan Mobile and Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA), with the three companies pledging to work together to develop, produce and distribute Taiwanese IP and content.

WBD has previously been behind shows such as scripted originals The Teenage Psychic, Dream Raider and The World Between Us, which are available through its regional streaming service HBO Go in Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

In the factual and documentary space, unscripted shows include Beating COVID 19, Master Class and the Taiwan Revealed series, which has aired on various networks in Southeast Asia.

Taiwan Mobile, meanwhile, operates its own streamer – MyVideo – and has become a regular investor in films and series, with shows such as Tears on Fire, Magician on the Skywalk and The Victims’ Game on its slate. It also previously partnered with WBD on HBO Asia co-production Workers.

TAICCA was established by the Ministry of Culture to support creative content production by offering funds for co-production and investment in development projects and companies.
