Paramount+ has cancelled its remake of 1980s movie Fatal Attraction and its Kiefer Sutherland-starring espionage drama Rabbit Hole, both after just one season.

The Fatal Attraction reboot, described at the time of its unveiling as a “reimagining” of the 1987 psychosexual thriller, was produced by Paramount Television Studios and Amblin Television.

Dirty John’s Alexandra Cunningham served as writer, showrunner and exec producer on the show, alongside Kevin J Hynes, as well as Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey for Amblin.

The drama starred Lizzy Caplan (Castle Rock) as Alex, a woman who becomes obsessed with her lover following a brief affair.

The original 1987 film starred Glenn Close as a woman who become infatuated with married man Michael Douglas after a one-night stand.

Rabbit Hole, meanwhile, was from CBS Studios and tracked the life of a man who was framed for murder.

Earlier this year, Paramount+ joined HBO Max and Disney+ in pulling shows from its service to save cash, with its recently released Grease remake and a Star Trek spin-off among the high-profile casualties.
