The CW boards C4’s second season of UK comedy ‘Everyone Else Burns’
The CW Network has boarded the second season of UK apocalyptic family comedy Everyone Else Burns, which also has Channel 4 attached.
The show’s first season, which debuts on The CW on Thursday, follows a strictly religious family who believe the world will end within the decade.
It debuted on C4 in the UK in January and was extended into a second season in May.
The show has been written by Dillon Mapletoft and Oliver Taylor, with the second season being co-produced by Jax Media (part of Imagine Entertainment) and Universal International Studios.
Executive producers include Brooke Posch, Tony Hernandez and Jax Media’s Molly Seymour as well as Mapletoft and Taylor.
Brad Schwartz, president of entertainment at The CW, described the show as “a brilliant and bitingly funny series that is as much about family as it is about the end of days.”
The CW had pared back much of its scripted efforts over the past year, following its acquisition by Nexstar, with unscripted content high on the agenda.
However, it is now moving back into broader scripted fare, as the network’s chief digital officer, Ashley Hovey, told TBI last week at MIPCOM in Cannes.
