Prime Video & Germany’s ARD take in South Africa-based drama ‘The Morning After’
Prime Video is ramping up its offering in sub-Saharan Africa with the pick-up of local drama The Morning After, which has also been acquired by Germany’s ARD.
The eight-part dramedy follows the life of a young singer from the UK who mysteriously washes up on the shores of a Cape Town beach and is taken in by a group of local misfits.
The show, which will be available via ARD’s streamer Mediatex, is shooting in Cape Town and has been created by Thierry Cassuto and Karen Jeynes, with Amara Okereke (Red Rose) starring.
French prodco Paradoxal and Cape Town-based Both Worlds Pictures are producing, with the drama marking the duo’s second show together following Recipes For Love And Murder.
It debuted on Acorn and Showmax in 2022, with Global Screen and AMC Networks distributing.
Paradoxal holds global sales rights to The Morning After, which has Cindy Lee and Karen Jeynes attached to direct.
