SkyShowtime lands former Netflix exec to lead content across Iberia
Comcast and Paramount’s European streamer SkyShowtime has landed a former Netflix exec to become its regional content director for Iberia.
Juan Mayne will lead on content acquisitions and original programming, with overall responsibility for productions across the Iberian region.
He reports to fellow Netflix alum Kai Finke, who recently joined SkyShowtime as chief content officer to replace the departing Jon Farrar.
Mayne joins the programming team alongside Edyta Pytlewska-Mele, who leads content for Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and Fredrik Ljungberg, who oversees Northern Europe (the Netherlands and Nordics).
He joins having recently set up his label, N&L Films, and before that having been director of content, co-pros & acquisitions across Spain, Portugal and Latin America for Netflix, and head of film for Spain.
While at the streamer, he worked with AtresMedia to acquire shows including La Casa De Papel (aka Money Heist) and developed Spanish original films such as A Través De Mi Ventana (Through My Window).
Prior to that, Mayne worked for Disney, Warner Bros. and the Hearst corporation.
Finke said: “[Mayne] has an impressive track record as a highly successful content lead, so he will be a great addition to our team. He will be a pivotal player in offering expertise and supporting SkyShowtime’s next phase of growth and development of original programming.”
