Show of the Week: The Rolling Kitchen
The typical cooking format gets a real revolution in this new show that sees two couples competing to create the best dishes – while also contending with a stage that rotates 180 degrees every 10 minutes.
The pressure is on for the duos as they have just 40 minutes to create two dishes, with each turn of the stage splitting the teams up and presenting each cook with a different kitchen and a different dish to work on – without being able to communicate with their partners.
For those hoping to take home the cash prize, “mental agility, flexibility and a cool head” are required, says Global Agency founder & CEO Izzet Pinto.
“The sudden change in setting is a source of confusion for the contestants and amusement for the viewers. Expect expressions of panic from competitors who know they cannot confer as time ticks by. They may have to repair damage done by their partner or may ruin the dish themselves.”
Pinto says that The Rolling Kitchen is a “cost-effective and easy to produce” cooking competition format that is “budget friendly, sustainable and easily adapted.”
He adds that each episode takes about three hours to produce and that it should be possible to produce three episodes in a working day.
“It has great potential with its rotating kitchen idea and cost-effective format. It’s also open to any sponsorship because of its genre,” says Pinto.
“It has been produced for two seasons by Endemol Shine in Brazil. It has been produced in Japan and is still on air there, so we believe it would travel very well internationally.
