Kids round-up: Roku brings ‘Big Blue’ to US; France TV extends ‘My Life In Versailles’; Kedoo hires eOne alum
Roku brings ‘Big Blue’ to US
The Roku Channel Kids & Family has acquired US rights to Guru Studio’s comedy adventure animation series Big Blue.
The series, which was originally commissioned by CBC Kids in Canada, will launch on Roku in 2024.
Big Blue follows sibling underwater adventurers Lettie and Lemo who lead a quirky submarine crew with a magical ocean fairy stowaway named Bacon Berry. Together, they just might unravel the mysterious secrets of their underwater universe.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with The Roku Channel to bring Big Blue to homes across the US,” said Frank Falcone, president and executive creative director at Guru Studio.
France TV extends ‘My Life In Versailles’
France Télévisions has commissioned My Life In Versailles, an animated sequel to the TV special of the same name, from Xilam Animation and Films Grand Huit.
The 5 x 26-minute series, locally titled La Vie De Chateau, is set to be delivered in summer 2024. It was created by Clémence Madeleine-Perdrillat and Nathaniel H’Limi who will also both direct. The series will also be co-produced by Mélusine Productions and will be distributed by Xilam Animation.
The series follows eight-year-old Violette, who becomes an orphan and is sent to live with her uncle Regis – the caretaker at the Palace of Versailles – who she barely knows.
