NBCU’s Universal International Studios names HiddenLight exec Roma Khanna as head of studio

Universal International Studios (UIS) has named former HiddenLight exec Roma Khanna as its head of studio.

Khanna reports to UIS president Beatrice Springborn andtakes the role vacated by David Donoghue earlier this year.

She will lead a divison that houses Carnival Films, Monkey Kingdom, Matchbox Pictures, Working Title Television and Heyday Television, plus global formats division NBCUniversal Formats.

Khanna was most recently exec chair at Hillary and Chelsea Clinton’s HiddenLight Productions, executive producing shows such as the eight-part docuseries Gutsy for Apple TV+.

Prior to that, Khanna had held roles including being CEO of Sean Combs’s Revolt Media & TV and president of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios (MGM) Television Group and Digital.

Before MGM, Khanna spent several years at NBCU as president of its International Networks and Digital Initiatives unit, leading more than 70 channels globally.
