ZDF, Arte exec Martin Pieper joins Germany’s Gebrueder Beetz Film Production

ZDF and Arte documentary veteran Martin Pieper is leaving the broadcasters to join Germany’s Gebrueder Beetz Film Production.

Pieper starts as international producer on 1 October at the prodco, which was founded in 2000 and is behind Sky’s docuseries Juan Carlos – Downfall Of The King.

He was most recently leading the culture and science division at ZDF, where he worked across factual output for the German broadcaster and some output for German-French operator Arte.

In his new role, he is responsible for the international co-production activities of Gebrueder Beetz and reports to producer and managing director, Christian Beetz.

Pieper has previously worked with the company on Aurora’s Sunrise, as well as docs Gaza and The Land Of The Enlightended.

Beetz said: “With Martin Pieper, we are gaining an experienced international producer whose commitment to high-quality productions fits perfectly with our content focus.

“He has an excellent international network and will play a significant role in furthering our internationalisation and our focus on producing relevant documentaries with a global perspective for an international audience.”
