Hulu takes Australia’s ‘Crazy Fun Park’ into US following ACTF deal
US streamer Hulu has picked up Australian comedy-horror series Crazy Fun Park, which debuted on the ABC in January.
The show, which becomes available on the Disney-owned streamer from 1 October, tells the story of two best friends, one of whom is killed at an abandoned theme park.
The other friend then discovers that his friend’s soul has stuck around, along with the ghosts of other teenagers who have died at the fun park since 1979.
Crazy Fun Park was produced by Werner Film Productions and is sold by the Australian Children’s Television Foundation. It was created by Nicholas Verso, directed by Verso and Sarah Hickey.
The series has already sold around the world, with pick-ups in Spain, Finland, Norway, Lithuania, Belgium, Slovenia, Taiwan, New Zealand and the UK.
ACTF CEO Jenny Buckland described the show as “a clever, funny and unique series, full of horror and humour interwoven with a moving narrative about friendship and grief and pop culture references that appeal to a wide demographic.”
