Eureka Productions takes Talpa’s ‘Quiz With Balls’ into US
Eureka Productions, the US- and Australia-based firm behind Netflix’s remake of The Mole, has picked up rights to The Quiz With Balls from John de Mol’s Talpa.
The format, which debuted on Talpa’s Dutch network SBS6 earlier this year, requires teams to answer a series of questions correctly in order to stop a giant ball from rolling into them and pushing them into the pool below.
The more players each team loses, the harder the questions get. But the longer they last, the higher they climb up the money ladder, until one team beats the balls and the bank to win the big cash prize.
“The Quiz With Balls has a simple but genius format mechanic, combining the fun, excitement and scale of a big physical challenge show with the play-along and jeopardy of a high stakes quiz show,” said Chris Culvenor, co-CEO of Eureka.
No broadcaster/streamwer is yet attached.
Eureka is already producing Talpa’s quiz show format The Floor for Fox in the US, as well as survival adventure format Million Dollar Island for the Seven Network in Australia. Aside from the second season of The Mole, it is also behind the US version of Fremantle’s Farmer Wants a Wife for Fox.
