Merman Television recruits Sister Pictures’ Amanda Wasey as production head
UK-based Bad Sisters producer Merman Television has appointed Sister Pictures exec Amanda Wasey as its new head of production.
Wasey will work closely alongside Merman’s senior leadership team, including the company’s co-founders Sharon Horgan and Clelia Mountford, managing director Rebecca Parkinson and finance director Jackie Sidey, as well Faye Dorn, the company’s head of drama.
Reporting to Parkinson, Wasey will be responsible for the development and production of Merman’s upcoming shows, including the second season comedy-drama Bad Sisters for Apple TV+.
Wasey joins from Sister Pictures, where she was production executive across scripted titles including the upcoming Passenger for ITVX and BritBox, as well as Better and The Split for BBC One.
Prior to Sister, Wasey worked as a freelancer in the film & TV industry for more than 30 years, working in a variety of roles on productions including Peak Practice, Shameless, Inspector George Gently, Indian Summers, Noughts And Crosses, Tina & Bobby, The Bay and Brassic.
Founded in 2014 by Horgan and Mountford, Merman Television is behind titles including Dreamland for Sky, There She Goes for BBC Two, Frayed for Sky and ABC, This Way Up for Hulu and Channel 4 and Housebroken for Fox.
“We’re delighted to be welcoming Amanda to the Merman team. Her experience in the entertainment industry, working across an array of acclaimed and award-winning series, and her dedication to production make her undoubtedly the right person for the role,” said Mountford.
