HBO renews ‘The Righteous Gemstones’ for fourth season
HBO has renewed original comedy crime series The Righteous Gemstones for a fourth season, ahead of the third season finale this weekend.
The series, which follows a famous family of dysfunctional televangelists and megachurch pastors, stars Danny McBride, Adam Devine, John Goodman and Edi Patterson.
It is created and written by star McBride, who also directs and exec produces, alongside Jody Hull and David Gordon Green. John Carcieri, Jeff Fradley, and Brandon James exec produce.
The third season, which wraps up on 30 July, is currently averaging 4.9 million viewers per episode, according to HBO.
In the latest run of episodes, the spoiled Gemstone children finally get their wish to take control of the Church – but soon discover leadership is harder than they imagined and that their extravagant lifestyle comes with a heavy price.
Amy Gravitt, EVP of HBO programming, head of HBO & Max comedy series, said: “Get ready for more of the hilarious adrenaline ride that is The Righteous Gemstones. As this truly biblical season comes to a close on Sunday night, I am delighted to announce that we are picking up a fourth season.”
