Netflix preps Nordic drama ‘Midsummer Night’ from The Global Ensemble Drama
Netflix has unveiled the cast for its upcoming Nordic drama Midsummer Night, which has been created and directed by Quicksand‘s Per-Olav Sørensen.
The show explores how a couple who have been married for 30 years choose to tell their family and friends a big secret that has unforeseen consequences.
It is to be shot in Oslo, Norway, this summer and released in 2024, with Magnus Ramsdalen and Janne Hjeltnes attached for Nordic firm The Global Ensemble Drama.
The cast includes Pernilla August, Dennis Storhøi, Amalia Holm, Sofia Tjelta, Linn Skåber, Kim Falck, Christopher Wollter, Fanny Klefelt, Peiman Azizpour, Maria Agwumaro, Eirik Hallert, Liv Osa and Kadir Talabani.
Sørensen is script writer together with Sofie Forsman (Barracuda Queens), Tove Forsman (Young Royals) and Anna Fredrikke Bjerke (Gemini).
The director said the show would allow viewers to “immerse yourself in all the relationships that a large family can provide, and not least in all the secrets we can carry, as well as all the parallel lives we are capable of living and hiding to people who are very close to us.”
