Paramount+ extends Helium’s ‘Last King Of The Cross’
Paramount+ in Australia has greenlit a second season of Last King Of The Cross.
The show is produced by Mark Fennessy’s 18-month-old prodco Helium, with its first 10-part season becoming Paramount+’s most watched Australian series premiere of 2023.
It has been inspired by John Ibrahim’s autobiography and charts his rise from a poverty-stricken immigrant with no education, no money and no prospects, to become the country’s most infamous nightclub mogul in Sydney.
The second, eight-part season will return to explore how ecstasy affected business.
Last King Of The Cross is sold by Cineflix Rights, which has struck deals with Sky Atlantic in Italy, the UK, Ireland and Germany, as well as Paramount+ in Canada and Warner Bros. Discovery in New Zealand, with more deals in the pipeline.
Fennessy said: “Bigger, bolder, and even more action-packed, we are eager to share the next chapter of this compelling story. As is evident by the international sales, Last King Of The Cross has been embraced globally, which has fueled Helium’s commitment to telling gripping stories on a grand scale, delivering immersive and powerful narratives that resonate with audiences around the world.”
