BBC orders comedy, acquires ‘Traitors Australia’

UK pubcaster the BBC has commissioned comedy drama We Might Regret This, inspired by the lives and experiences of its creators Kyla Harris and Lee Getty, for BBC Two.

Produced by Roughcut TV (Big Boys, People Just Do Nothing, Stath Lets Flats), the series follows Freya (Harris) a 30-something Canadian artist and tetraplegic who moves to London to start a new relationship – and invites her chaotic friend Jo (Elena Saurel) to move in as her personal assistant.

In related news, the BBC has acquired The Traitors Australia, which will be the third version of the psychological reality game show aired by the broadcaster following the UK and US versions.

The Traitors Australia will start on BBC Three on 9 July and all 12 episodes will be available as a boxset on BBC iPlayer the same day.

A&E uncovers ‘Hip Hop Treasures’

A&E Network has ordered Hip Hop Treasures, a docuseries following the search for lost hip hop memorabilia, led by LL Cool J and Ice T.

Produced by Pulse Films and Rock The Bells, the show follows the stars who, alongside field collectors and museum curators, tell the story of some of Hip Hop’s greatest artists and the items they made famous – such as The Notorious B.I.G.’s iconic jersey from the “Juicy” video, Flavor Flav’s clocks, DMX’s Aaliyah car.

The series will debut on 12 August and is executive producedfor Pulse Films by Erica Hanson, Tracey Baker-Simmons, Andrena Hale and Mira King. Paradise Gray and Pete Nice are executive producersm alongside Elaine Frontain Bryant, Shelly Tatro and Jonathan Partridge for A+E Network.

OUTtv & Daddy TV ink deal

LGBTQ+ television and streaming service OUTtv has inked an exclusive, multi-year first-look deal with Daddy TV, the US prodco behind Hot Haus and X-Rated: NYC.

The first commission under the OUTtv first look deal will include season two of For The Love Of DILFs, set to film next month.
