Original Content Lab (OCL), the Toronto-based firm founded by former Sphere Media producer Sean Connolly, has appointed Alibi Entertainment’s Heidi Schorn as VP of development.

In the newly created role, Schorn will work with partners, creators, and talent to build the company’s development slate.

Schorn previously served as VP of development and executive producer of unscripted at fellow Toronto-based production company, Alibi Entertainment.

Her credits include factual and documentary series such as two seasons of Crossroads: Beyond the Boom and Bust for TVO, Klondike Trappers for History Channel Canada and format adaptations such as This is High School for CBC and Staying Inn: Hotel Julie for CTV.

Last year, OCL inked an exclusive multi-year partnership with Great Pacific Media, the Canadian factual and scripted label owned by Thunderbird Entertainment. The agreement sees Connolly’s firm developing unscripted primetime and children’s series for the global market, that Great Pacific Media will produce.

“We are so pleased to have a talent as experienced and respected as Heidi onboard the senior team,” said Connolly. “Her proven abilities in both content development and business strategy, along with an impeccable reputation industry-wide, combine to create an unstoppable force that will further fuel OCL’s ambition to be a leading creator of buzz-worthy content.”
