Nat Geo orders Oxford Films doc exploring pharma firm BioNTec’s attempts to cure cancer
Nat Geo has greenlit a documentary exploring the husband-and-wife team who built German biotechnology giant BioNTec as they try to find a cure for cancer.
The Cancer Vaccine (working title) is from UK-based Oxford Films and aims to take viewers to the heart of the cutting-edge research and patient trials that could change the way cancer is treated.
The special will explore the complexities as well as the achievements that the BioNTech team face, reflecting on the German company’s development of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for Covid-19.
Tom McDonald, EVP of global factual & unscripted at Nat Geo, said the show “will give viewers a front-row seat to one of the biggest events in history unfolding in real time – the scientists racing to find a potential cure for cancer.”
