Sony AXN Germany scores football drama ‘The Window’
Sony AXN Germany has acquired pay-TV and SVOD rights for German speaking territories to football drama The Window.
Distributor ZDF Studios has also struck licensing deals for the series with Vivacom in Bulgaria, TV4AB in Sweden, Deutsche Welle in Germany, Dubai based MBC, Keshet Broadcasting in Israel and the global multi-platform video service Vubiquity.
Created and written by James Payne, the 10 x 45-minute series is produced by Boogie Entertainment in co-production with Fuji Television Network and ZDF Studios. It will debut in Germany exclusively on Sony AXN Germany on 25 May.
The show is set in the elite world of top level football, involving players, agents, club owners, administrators and journalists. It begins at the end of the English soccer season when the transfer window opens and charts one summer in the life of Jordan Burdett, a 17-year-old wunderkind who is being sought after by every club in Europe.
Marius Rocholl, VP TV content strategy & acquisitions at Sony Pictures Entertainment said: “James Payne has created a superb drama giving a fascinating insight into what goes on behind closed doors. With its gripping storyline, The Window isn’t just for football fans. And the timing couldn’t be better as we look to air the series this summer coinciding with the Women’s World Cup.”
