Bento Box Entertainment CEO Scott Greenberg is leaving the Fox-owned animation studio.

Greenberg, who co-founded Bento Box in 2009 prior to its acquisition by Fox in 2019, will be replaced by COO Brett Coker.

He reports into Michael Thorn, president of scripted programming at Fox Entertainment. The latter’s SVP of animation, Daniel Weidenfeld, will also work across Bento Box output with creative director Ben Jones, reporting into Coker.

Fox Entertainment’s SVP of comedy Cheryl Dolins, will oversee live-action comedy and animation programming and development at the company.

Greenberg had also been CEO of Fox’s tech company Blockchain Creative Labs, which will now be overseen by president Melody Hildebrandt. Last year, Greenberg told TBI that NFT’s would become a key tool in the way content is distributed and financed.

Bento Box is behind shows such as Bob’s Burgers and Krapopolis for Fox, as well as Grimsburg. It also produced third-party programming, including Central Park for Apple TV+ and Koala Man at Hulu.

Greenberg said: “Deep down, I’m an entrepreneur at heart who enjoys building organisations and nurturing their teams to bring out the best in themselves. With Bento Box and BCL running full steam ahead on the path for continued growth and success, now is the time to explore new opportunities.”

Thorn and Rob Wade, CEO of Fox Entertainment, said: “Scott has been a great partner and friend, and while we are sad to see him leave, we are happy for him to take another leap forward.

“He’s an innovator who is always ready to embrace opportunity and we’re looking forward to the great things Scott does next.”
