Playground rejig top team with Scott Huff & David Stern named joint MD’s
Colin Callender’s prodco Playground has reshuffled its management team with Scott Huff and David Stern named joint MD’s.
Huff and Stern will handle day-to-day management of the UK and US operations, while Callender will continue to focus on corporate strategy, co-production partnerships and key talent relationships.
He will also retain oversigh of select projects, including All Creatures Great And Small, which is in its fourth season for Channel 5 in the UK and Masterpiece in the US.
Huff has been at Playground since its launch and oversees TV projects in the US and UK, as well as its international co-productions. He has been behind shows including Wolf Hall, the BBC and Starz crime series The Missing, as well as The White Queen.
Stern joined Playground in 2019 as SVP of development & production, and before that was an indie producer who worked on Peacock’s thriller series Departure and Netflix drama Delhi Crime.
Callender said: “Scott was a day one employee of the company and has been an integral part of its success to date, while David was a valued colleague and collaborator for many years before joining us formally in 2019.
As a partnership, they are a formidable team capable of harnessing and accelerating the growth of the business in the ever-changing global marketplace. I look forward to entering the next chapter of Playground together.”
Playground was launched by Callender in 2012, with its upcoming slate including The Cryptopians: Idealism, Greed, Lies, and the Making of the First Big Cryptocurrency Craze and Wicked Girls, the latter adapted from Alex Marwood’s novel.
