Netflix expands ‘Stranger Things’ franchise with new Flying Bark animation
Netflix is expanding its franchises with a new Stranger Things animation greenlit to series.
The untitled show is from Flying Bark Productions and will be developed by exec producer, Eric Robles.
Details of the plot have been kept under wraps but the new show will be set within the universe of Stranger Things. The original show’s producers, the Duffer Brothers, will exec produce via their label, Upside Down Pictures.
Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen of 21 Laps, which has an overall deal at Netflix, are also exec producing.
Matt and Ross Duffer said: “We’ve always dreamed of an animated Stranger Things in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving, and to see this dream realised has been absolutely thrilling.
“We couldn’t be more blown away by what Eric Robles and his team have come up with. The scripts and artwork are incredible and we can’t wait to share more with you! The adventure continues…”
Stranger Things debuted in 2016 and is set to end after its upcoming fifth season. The Duffers have several other related shows in the works, including a theatre show and a live-action spin-off.
