Netflix extends ‘The Night Agent’ & orders supernatural animation
Netflix has renewed action-thriller series The Night Agent for a second season and ordered a new animated action series, Jentry Chau Vs The Underworld.
The 10-episode extension comes just a week after The Night Agent made its debut on Netflix on 23 March. Produced by Sony Pictures Television and created by Shawn Ryan, the series is based on the novel of the same name by Matthew Quirk.
It stars Gabriel Basso as FBI Agent Peter Sutherland who is on the hunt for a mole at the highest levels of the US government.
Ryan exec produces via with MiddKid Productions, alongside Marney Hochman, as well as Seth Gordon and Julia Gunn with Exhibit A; Jamie Vanderbilt, William Sherak, Paul Neinstein and Nicole Tossou with Project X; and David Beaubaire with Sunset Lane Media.

Supernatural animation
Meanwhile, Netflix has also commissioned a new 2D animated supernatural action series, Jentry Chau Vs The Underworld.
The series, from first-time showrunner Echo Wu and executive producers Ali Wong (Beef) and Aron Eli Coleite (Locke & Key) follows the titular Chau (voiced by Ali Wong), a Chinese-American teen living in a small Texas town, who finds out a demon king is hunting her for the supernatural powers she’s been working her whole life to repress.
With the help of her weapons expert great-aunt and a millennia-old jiangshi, Chau must now fight an entire underworld’s worth of monsters while balancing the horrors of high school.
The voice cast also includes Bowen Yang, Lori Tan Chinn, Lucy Liu, Jimmy O. Yang, Sheng Wang, and Woosung Kim.
Chris Prynoski (The Legend of Vox Machina), Shannon Prynoski (Fairfax), Antonio Canobbio (Arlo the Alligator Boy) and Ben Kalina (Big Mouth) will also executive produce from Titmouse.
