Silverlining secures global backers for Blink Films’ King Charles doc
UK production finance broker and distributor Silverlining Rights has brought together a host of international broadcaster funding partners to co-produce upcoming royal documentary My King Charles.
Produced by Blink Films, My King Charles provides an insight into the British monarch from his early years in the palace to major revelations on his playboy twenties, his first marriage, brushes with politics, his role in smoothing recent royal troubles, and the future he now faces.
The documentary, which is being produced in both 1 x 60-minute and 1 x 120-minute versions, has now found backing from broadcasters including Channel Nine in Australia, TVNZ in New Zealand, RTL Deutschland in Germany, RTL in the Netherlands, TV2 in Denmark, Discovery in Italy, Movistar+ in Spain, DPG in Belgium, TVI-CNN in Portugal, ServusTV in Austria, Ceska TV in the Czech Republic and Hot8 in Israel.
The documentary will also stream on an as-yet unnamed major US platform, according to SIlverlining Rights.
The film includes a host of exclusive, world-first interviews from those who know the King personally, which provide new revelations across his life. They include former girlfriends, close schoolfriends, life-long friends and relatives, together with former members of his private staff. Alongside the interviews, the documentary includes never-before seen and letters, together with previously unseen photographs to provide an intimate portrait of King Charles.
Dan Chambers, creative director at Blink Films, said: “Silverlining’s partnership from discussing our initial idea through to jointly funding the development was instrumental to us getting key contributors on board, pre-sales secured and the programme into production.
“We are thrilled that audiences around the world will be able to watch our documentary on such a great mix of high profile, streamers and broadcasters.”
