Bloomberg orders eco-docuseries with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau
Bloomberg Media has ordered a new original eco-docuseries, An Optimist’s Guide To The Planet, hosted by Game Of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.
Produced by Cream Productions and Wildfire Television, in association with Bloomberg, Bell Media and Ill Kippers Aps, the six-part Canada-UK co-production will launch next year, and will explore the stories of people around the world striving to tackle the environmental crisis.
The show follows Coster-Waldau as he crosses continents to meet with those driving humanity to a brighter future from electric aircraft engineers in Burlington, Vermont to Nashulai Conservancy elders in Kenya and women leading sustainable Mezcal production in Mexico. He will explore key environmental issues and the people working to solve them including biodiversity, food sustainability, chemical pollution and more.
The series joins Bloomberg’s growing slate of Bloomberg Originals programming, including Getting Warmer With Kal Penn and The Future With Hannah Fry,
Kyle Kramer, Bloomberg’s head of original programming, described the series as “our most ambitious project yet.” He added: “Our goal in launching Bloomberg Originals is to inform, educate and inspire modern leaders across the globe through premium storytelling, and An Optimist’s Guide To The Planet epitomises these values while taking us on an epic adventure.”
Coster-Waldau will also exec produce the series, alongside David Brady, Philip Clarke, Kate Harrison Karman, Joe Derrick, Jennifer Baichwal, Nicholas de Pencier, and co-executive producer Patrick Cameron.
