Fremantle dives into sales for Steve Backshall whale docuseries

Fremantle has acquired global distribution rights to Whale With Steve Backshall, the upcoming natural history series from True To Nature Productions.

Launching on Sky Nature in the UK in autumn, the True to Nature and Sky Studios production is directed by Ellen Husain and Tom Whitworth, and executive produced by Wendy Darke. Simon Nash serves as series producer.

Following his previous Sky show, Shark With Steve Backshall, this new series follows the titular adventurer and conservationist on first-hand, freediving encounters with whales and dolphins of all species, from the mighty sperm whales and intelligent humpback whales to smart but deadly Orcas and Bottlenose Dolphins

Using cutting-edge technology, from diver propulsion vehicles to tiny, high-quality drone cameras and split-rig cameras to film above and below the water simultaneously, Backshall and the team aim to get closer than ever to these animals.
