SBS in Oz & Fifth Season move into ‘Swift Street’ with Tig Terera
Australia broadcaster SBS has ordered an eight-part drama set in Melbourne that has Fifth Season attached.
Swift Street is set in bustling inner-city Melbourne and follows a 21-year-old woman who must team up with her jaded old-school hustler father to get him out of debt and save him from a merciless crime boss.
The show has been written and created by Tig Terera (Tinashé, Chenge) and produced by Lois Randall (Black Snow) and Ivy Mak (Sydney Sleuthers).
Magpie Pictures is producing with Fifth Season (fka Endeavor Content) handling global distribution, with filming starting later this year.
Julie Eckersley, SBS’s head of scripted, described the show was Shameless meets Run Lola Run “with the heart of Reservation Dogs.”
