Netflix names unscripted chief to replace RTL-bound Inga Leschek

Netflix has hired former ProSiebenSat.1 exec Wiebke Schodder to oversee its unscripted slate, replacing Inga Leschek who joined RTL Deutschland last month.

Schodder becomes director of unscripted for Netflix in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, reporting into fellow ProSieben alum Katja Hofem, who is VP of content at the streamer.

Schodder joins Netflix following more than a decade with ProSieben, where she led factual for flagship Sat.1 and female-skewing Sixx, before taking overall control of the latter. She left the German broadcaster in late 2021.

Home said Schodder had “helped shape the German TV landscape” and had “a strong instinct for the needs of the audience.”

The appointment comes a month since RTL Deutschland revealed it had poached former Netflix exec Leschek to lead programming for its channel and streaming operations.

Leschek left RTL Deutschland to join Netflix in October 2021 but will return to RTL in March, reporting into Stephan Schmitter, MD of programmes & brands.
