Cinedigm snags Sony alum for new EVP of partnerships position
LA-based distributor and channels operator Cinedigm has hired former Sony exec Marc Rashba as EVP of partnerships.
In this newly created role, Rashba will be responsible for business development, programming content deals and selling Cinedigm’s proprietary technology Matchpoint to third parties.
Reporting directly to Erick Opeka, chief strategy officer, Cinedigm Corp & president of Cinedigm Networks, Rashba will cultivate and manage strategic partnerships and take charge of programming releases, negotiating agreements, expanding digital distribution and driving new revenue opportunities.
Prior to joining Cinedigm, Rashba most recently served as president at MovieMethod, where he oversaw global digital content sales, marketing & distribution. He was responsible for driving strategy, licensing, channel growth and platform expansion, as well as developing go-to-market plans for FAST, OTT, SVOD, AVOD and apps.
Rashba also previously served as VP of digital partnerships & development at Sony Pictures Entertainment and spent more than 15 years in various global marketing roles for Sony.
Last year, Cinedigm acquired North American streaming, advertising and distribution firm Digital Media Rights (DMR) in a $16.4m deal, bringing ten streaming channels, including AsianCrush and RetroCrush, under its umbrella.
Following the acquisition, Cinedigm now operates more than 30 streaming services, with a content library boasting 46,000 films and television episodes. Its channels include Cineverse, Fandor, Bloody Disgusting TV and Screambox, home to horror titles such as Freddy’s Nightmares.
