ITV orders ‘Mamma Mia’ format

ITV in the UK is prepping an eright-part theatrical competition show to find the future musical theatre stars of Mamma Mia.

The format, Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream, is from Fremantle-owned Thames and Littlestar. It will debut on ITV1 and search for two future stars to play the roles of Sophie and Sky on the stage in London’s West End.

The format will be shot on the Greek islands and will see musical theatre hopefuls put through their paces as they navigate their way through challenges, masterclasses and performances. They will then by judged by a panel of well-known industry experts in both music and theatre.

The show has been commissioned by Katie Rawcliffe, head of entertainment commissioning at ITV, as well as commissioning editors Lily Wilson and Louise Major.

ITVX among Beyond’s 250-hour UK sales

ITVX, A+E Networks and UKTV are among companies to have picked up shows from Beyond Rights, which has sold more than 250 hours of programming into the country.

A+E’s UK division has acquired Loot (8 x 60 minutes), the investigative history series produced by EQ Media Rights that reveals how the trade in stolen antiquities and art has become a major source of income for criminal syndicates, gangs and terrorists across the globe.

ITV has picked up a true crime package for its recently launched ITVX platform, which includes one season of A Stranger In My Home from CMJ Productions and three seasons of Seven Productions’ Beach Cops.

Elsewhere, UKTV has taken Kathy Burke: All Woman by Flicker Productions; CBS Reality in the UK has struck a deal for a package of crime and investigation titles including Beyond Productions’ Facing Evil; and Sky has added season 15 of Primate Planet Productions’ Monkey Life.

Discovery has also picked up season 11 of Beyond Productions’ Deadly Women, while other deals have seen OUT TV’s UK platform buying two seasons of Great Pacific Media’s Queen Of The Oil Patch.

Dance Revolution moves to Baltic, Africa beat

Elitaz Productions has picked up rights to Dance Revolution, the entertainment show sold by ITV Studios-owned Armoza Formats.

The format, which was created by Québecor Content and Fair-Play for Canada’s TVA, has been sold in a pan-Baltic and pan-African deal to Elitaz, which previously produced the Lithuanian adaptation.

Dance Revolution sees dancers from all styles and ages compete with the help of state-of-the-art technology. They are judged with a 360˚ shot of their most spectacular ‘revolution’ moment, with three dance industry experts marking their moves.

All Against 1 lands on Spain’s RTVE

Spain’s RTVE is adapting Banijay format All Against 1, with the group’s local banner Zeppelin set to produce.

The format was originally created by Nordisk Film TV Denmark and Norwegian label, Nordisk Banijay. The gameshow asks outlandish questions and sees viewers playing along at home as they look to compete with studio contestants to bank the prize,

Spain marks the eighth adaption of the format, following versions in Denmark, Finland, and Germany, amongst others.
