Paramount Global moves VH1 under BET Media’s Scott Mills
Paramount Global has reshuffled its cable operations with VH1 moving under BET Media Group’s Scott Mills.
The network had previously been part of Paramount Media Networks, led by Chris McCarthy, whose remit covers Paramount Network, MTV, Comedy Central and CMT.
McCarthy will also soon be taking on the remit for Showtime, ahead of David Nevins’ departure later this year.
VH1’s new home positions it alongside the flagship BET network, as well as streamer BET+, BET Her, BET Studios and BET Digital.
Paramount CEO Bob Bakish said the move would enable VH1 to be “best positioned for future success”.
It means VH1 will no longer be part of the same division as MTV, although the latter’s production division will still produce shows such as RuPaul’s Drag Race for the network.
